Vintage fuel systems are prone to more problems than modern fuel systems.  Imagine a bucket filled with fuel with a small hole in the bottom.  The fuel is available and used whenever it is needed.  The unused fuel remains in the bucket.  Fuel, after a period of time, separates.  It also accumulates water (condensation) and contamination.  This amount of stagnant fuel and water causes rust to form, especially on part time cars.  That's why older cars need fuel tank service and replacement.  On modern cars (fuel injected) the fuel is supplied in mamouth proportions to the engine with the remainder being returned to the fuel tank.  This recirculating system keeps the fuel fresh and the tank clean because of the constant turbulence created inside the tank.  (Also, creating the need for a better filtering system because of the higher pressures and constant flow of fuel, to and from the tank).  We protect your fuel tank from rusting by coating the tank inside and out with epoxy that won't peel or chip off for the life of your car.  It then makes it easier to eliminate the water and contaminants that will invade your fuel system.  Simple products like "heat" and "stabil" are an effective solution, also by changing your fuel filter at least once a year will also provide a trouble free fuel system.

Electric fuel pumps With the latest production of "electronic" fuel pumps made by SU, the fear of fuel pump failure is gone.  Previously the SU fuel pump was nothing but trouble - even brand new, there were instructions supplied with the pump on how to clean and adjust it if it didn't work - which really meant "when" it didn't work.Over the years, we've seen literally dozens of different styles of pumps used to get away from the poor quality original design.  None of these pumps fit well, looked good or were really correct for the cars.  Now "this" pump fits, looks good, and really works reliably.
