Lead impregnated under floor mats (E-Types and MK'S)
We have found an under mat which is a sandwich made of lightweight Handura, top and bottom, with a lead blanket sewn in between. Not only does it lay flat without adhesives, (for easy service) but acts as an excellent sound and heat insulator.
Bonnet and firewall insulation (MK'S)
We cut and bind Handura pads that really fit. In addition we insulate the passenger side of the front bulkhead as well as the heater box to provide maximum efficiency. Also keeping the heat out of the cockpit at the same time.
Door insulation & weatherproofing (XKE's and MK's)
We at Jaguars Unlimited care as much about what you don't see as what you do see. For example: One of the biggest problems is rust. We see it inside the doors - water gets in - and usually can't get out. instant rust and corrosion! We know we can't stop the water from getting into the doors - so we don't try and stop it - we work with it. First we strip, dip, or blast to make sure the inside of the door is as clean as the outside. Then we weld and repair any previous damage from rust or accident. Next we thoroughly epoxy prime the entire interior door shell. We open and check the drain holes and make sure they function properly, adding to the design where necessary. We fit the doors back to the car, pour water in, and make sure it drains properly.
All of the interior door mechanisms (i.e. the window winders, door openers, and latch mechanisms) are acid dipped then when completely free from all rust and corrosion we cadmium plate them for long life and durability. All of the attaching screws and washers are replaced with stainless steel to prevent any rusting problems later. (All of these screws are not visible with the door panel attached) Next the inside of the outer door skin is insulated. We bond a heavy pad made by the 3M company to the vertical portion of the inside of the door. Not only does it make the door sound better when you close it but also it suppresses the road noise and outside temperatures. After we're happy with the operation of the doors, before the door panels are attached, we add a vapor barrier. This is a sheet of heavy plastic fitted to the inner door skins to prevent the moisture from damaging the door panel materials. We take a lot of extra care to make sure your investment lasts and lasts.
Heat Blankets (E-types an MK's)
In addition to replacing all of the factory style heat shields under the car, we go much further to protect you in the cockpit from overheating. We have found an insulator blanket, which has a metal reflective side attached to a thin layer of a non-flammable high heat fiber material. We can form this blanket and attach it to almost anything. In addition to the obvious problem areas, (ie. transmission tunnel and front bulkhead). We have fitted it to the entire floorboard area with great success. With the help of a little modern technology and our laser temperature probes, we have been able to identify the "hot spots" and cool them down dramatically. Therefore adding to your comfort.
